The Paper Plunge #45 - Wet Embossing with Embellished Ormaments

It's been a while since I've actually posted on The Paper Plunge, and I do hope you'll take time and play along with us this week.  The theme is "wet embossing".  So you want to know what that is?  It's simply embossing on paper, and it ends up with a wet look or shiny, when it's done.

For my card, I chose to use the embellished ornaments stamp set, and I hand cut the ornament and metal hanger, then I used the peaceful wreath stamp set for "Peace" on the bottom.  I also used the winter wonderland vellum designer series paper, along with the gold foil for the look I wanted.  It turned out pretty nice, I might add.  It was easy and fun.

Here's my entry for thepaperplunge.com this week:

Hope you like it.  Hop on over to the plunge and take the challenge yourself this week.  You'll be glad you did.

Happy Embossing!

Coloring Down the Lines - Happy Scenes

Well, it's been a crazy month past.  My father had knee replacement surgery and he's 88 years old.  I've been running him to his appointments, spent the day at the hospital with him during his surgery, running back and forth visiting him, then taking him to rehab and visiting him, and now he's home, and continuing to make sure he has everything he needs, food, etc.  He lives alone, God bless him, and he's doing ok.  Just a bit swollen still, but I'm glad he's making out.

Besides that, I've been working late hours trying to catch up on all the projects I'm working, and sometimes working 11-1/2 hour days.  Calgon, take me away!!!

I managed to take time and make my card for the blog hop.  It was nice and relaxing, and I was sure glad I did.

So, what did we have to work from this week?  Here's the photograph and color pallet we used.

I had wanted to do something with flowers, but everything I tried just didn't work out.  So this is what I came up with instead.

What I used for this card was the Happy Scenes, You're So Sweet, Bordering Blooms, and Hardwood stamps sets.  I then used the heart and home framelits for the window and window box, and topped the flowers in the top of the window on the vine with tiny basic pearls.  The sky color is blushing bride .. it  reminded me of dusk in the Fall.  The redwood background is stamped in real red, and i used a dauber and daubed the color on the entire stamp to make the wood pop just like it was a red wood building, or barn.  Cute, huh?

Did you arrive here from Amanda's blog?  If so, be sure to hop on over to Joni's blog after stopping here to see what's in store.  Fun, Fun, Fun!  We never run out of ideas.

I hope you enjoyed the hop this week.  Thanks for your visit.

Cheers!

Coloring Down the Lines - Boho Chic

Happy Wednesday.  It's Coloring Down the Lines day, and this week, we had some pretty colors to work with.  I have been super busy lately and haven't had much time to post my stuff, but I promise, I will soon.

Anyway, let's focus on Coloring Down the Lines ... below is the photograph and color pallet we used for inspiration this week.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but it all came together in the end.

I don't know how the blackberry bliss was the color selection for the third color down, because in my eyes, it looks like a purple/blue color ... but I guess that's the closest they could get.

Here is my card for the week ...

I used the boho chic embossing folder for the very vanilla oval to add a bit of interest.  I chose to do something simple, but nice, so I hope you like it.

Don't forget to check back at Amanda's blog if you haven't arrived here from there, and then hop on over to Joni's blog and see what she's made using these colors.

Hope you have a fun Hump Day!  I'll be back soon ..

Hugs,
Helen

Convention 2015 Card Candy - Sprinkles of Life

One of the swaps I signed up for was the "Card Candy" swap.  I simply love card candy, and have a lot of fun making the sets up for packaging.  I used Sprinkles of Life for this one ... so you can use it for a number of different cards.

This is the first of two card candies I did.

Stop back tomorrow for my other card candy swap.  I'm just addicted to this ... what can I say.

Cheers!

Tom's Birthday Card

This year, my husband Tom's birthday fell on a weekend that he was sailing, or should I say, racing his hobie cat, so I didn't get to see him until he returned home.  Because he was sailing, of course I wanted to make him a card of a sailboat of some sort, and I found a card on Pinterest created by NancyFerbShares.com.  She used "A Work of Art" for her card, and I thought it was so nice, I wanted to try and make one myself.  So this is what I came up with, using her inspiration:

I changed the colors up for my card, and I ended up cutting the zig zags for the water.  I thought it turned out pretty cute, if I must say so myself.  Tom liked it too, once he returned home to open it.  He came home a bit early this time because of all the boat traffic and waves, that it made it just too hard to sail.  Never-the-less, he seemed to have a great time.

Ta Ta for now ...

Coloring Down the Lines - Birthday Blossoms

It's blog hop time again.  Yea, hump day!  If you've started with Inkedx2, you hopped on over to Ourcraftyplaydate before you arrived here.  After you've had a chance to view my submission for this week, hop on over to Joniinthespotlightstaming to continue on.

This week's challenge wasn't that hard for me, from looking at the photograph, I knew exactly what I was going to do.

So, let's take a look at the photograph we used for our inspiration first, and the color pallet, and you will then see what I made using the colors listed.

The photograph above reminds me of a flower just ready to blow in the summer breeze.  I can just imagine myself in a field of flowers, with gentle breezes around me.  Can you put yourself there?

Now here's the creation I made, and when I made this card, I thought of another nice day, just before dusk, and this is what I created.

I used the aqua painter to color the flowers and leaves.  The water lightened the colors like I wanted, and gave it just the right look I was trying to achieve.  You can't see it very well, but the centers of the flowers, I used soft sky, but the flowers themselves are wisteria wonder, elegant eggplant, and blackberry bliss.  The leaves are lost lagoon, and blended nicely with the flowers.

Nancy's Birthday Ensemble

I made a cute little ensemble for my sister's birthday this year.  I made the box using Stampin' Up's gift box board, and the sweet gift card holder was straight from Pootles blog and YouTube video.  Soooo cute.  I used delightful dijon for the ensemble, and it all looked great together.  Check them out ....

Now, if you want a closer look, here they are separately:

Here's the cute gift card holder that Pootles created - she calls it card in a card:

Lastly, here is the matching card:

And this is the inside of the card:

I hope you like them.  I enjoyed making the matching set ... I had never done that before.

So now, let's see what you'll make using the same idea.

Happy Crafting!

Sprinkles of Life - Bunches of Apples

Yes, you guessed it.  I'm going strong with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set.  I just can't stop thinking of all different designs I can make with it.  It's just so versatile ... if you don't own it, you may want to think about getting it.

Here's a card I made using an apple tree as my focus.  This card is so pretty in person, and the colors and designs just pop off the page.  See what you think ...

I used a stamp from A Work of Art for the sky in the background, and the remainder of the card was from Sprinkles of Life.  For a little added touch, I used the cucumber crush ribbon for some interest, and there you go ... Doesn't the tree look like it wants to pop off the card?  What fun this card was to make.  There's a lot you can do with this ... so keep stopping back and you'll see some more of my creations using this stamp set.

Coloring Down the Lines - Gift From the Garden

Hi Everyone!  I'm back from Utah and it's been a whirlwind since I got back.  I'll tell you about that in another post, but I'm ready for the blog hop, and I hope you are too.

Thank you for hopping over here from Our Crafty Playdate, as I know you've been inspired by Amanda.  Now, I hope you're inspired by my posting as well.

Below is the photograph and color pallet we used for this week.  At first, I wasn't quite sure what I would do with these colors, but can you believe it, I actually just start creating and it all came together.  I must admit, I was making another card and used the inspiration from that card to make this one.

And now for my card ... here it is:

I used the stamp set, Gift from the Garden for this one.  You can't see real well in the photograph, but the boots have crystal effects on them and they are shiny.  Since I love gardens and flowers, I couldn't resist creating this one.  Love this stamp set!  For the background, I used the brick wall embossing folder, inked with crumb cake.  I'm happy with the outcome.

So now that you've seen my card, take a look at what Joni over at Joni in the Spotlight Stamping created this week.  Just click on her name and you will be there in a flash.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by.  Stay tuned .. I have some convention goodies to share with you.

Stay cool, and happy stamping!

Sprinkles of Life Topiary

I just love the Sprinkles of Life stamp set ... specially created for the Ronald McDonald House.  I couldn't resist making this card, and I had Ms. Carol in mind.  Yes, you, Carol.  I can't wait till you're back blogging with us, but I was inspired by you to create  this card.  I also had to make 5 cards/projects using a particular stamp set for my team meeting last month, and yes, this card was featured.

So Carol, this one is for you ... I hope you're checking this out.

I used the ice cream cone for the base of the topiary, and just cut off the top part.  The bark, or trunk of the topiary is made using the candle and I used the itty bitty punches for the flowers, then topped the container with a jute bow.  The cardstock is tip top taupe, and the background was embossed using the boho embossing folder.

Hope you like it ... and I hope I was the first to create one.  I also used the same design for my 3x3 love notes swap, and they turned out just as cute.

Thanks for stopping by.  Let your creativity flow and keep on creating.
